From Mexico City to Mexico Proper

This morning we bade farewell to Mexico DF and our AirB&B hosts Lina and Tato. Cool dudes and lovely lovely people. If ever you need a crash course on the appreciation of Mezcal and Tequila then Tato is your man.

We make our way 50 miles south of the city to the small but perfectly formed town of Tepoztlan. What a contrast! In under 2 hours we go from bustling mega-metropolis to a quaint one donkey hamlet.

Wandering around Tepoztlan's dated, traditional buildings and rough cobblestone streets we had a sense that we were experiencing the 'real' Mexico; the Mexico that hasn't yet been altered to fit the needs of Western travellers. And it's bloody great man.

For such a small town it punches above its weight with the size of its market. Taking up an area that covers most of the centre of town, it's a noisy, colourful, crazy assault on the senses. I'm not much of a shopper but even I was won over by the range and quality of stuff on offer.

Didn't buy anything of course.
